Don't stop till you get enough

A week after the day the music went into a coma, cable news networks --- primarily MSNBC and CNN --- have been wall-to-Off the Wall with Michael Jackson coverage.
It's got to the point of morbid hero worship. Like they were expecting the resurrection. Some fans have even sworn they've seen Jackson's image in the clouds. Stay tuned, his image will probably show up on a slice of toast, or a potato chip.
MSNBC may as well stand for Michael Shall Never Be Condemned. The news network's slogan is "The place for politics." May as well change it to "The place for Jacksonites." They're 24/7 with anything about the former King of Pop.
Example: On Friday, MSNBC lead off it's 9:00 a.m. (PST) newscast with news about Jackson's estate, his kids, his ex-wife, his planned memorial, drugs found in his house, he isn't the biological father, the hangnail he had two days before he died, whatever and everything. Fifteen minutes into the newscast, they finally got around to the news that the unemployment rate is at an alarming 9.5 percent.
Fox News is the winner here. Fox News? Yep. They cover what's going on in Never-Never Land, but they at least lead with the war brewing in Afghanistan, North Korea planning to launch a missile at Hawaii, and the dismal jobless rate.
Granted, Fox News has its agenda --- they hate everything about liberal Hollywood, and the entertainment business as a whole (except for the Gatlin Brothers.)
But in this instance, it works. Fox is at least acting like a news organization and not fans who remember their high school days when "Thriller" was popular.
MSNBC also reported on a Pew Research poll that said 64 percent of Americans think there's too much coverage of the Jackson death. Then they followed the story of that poll with another poll that broke it down by race.
More African-Americans didn't think the coverage was overboard. More whites did. This, at the same time when the liberal news organization was basking in the glow of Jackson's aura because he transcends race.
Newscasts will invite anyone on with anything to say on the subject of Jackson. Dosen't matter if it's factual.
This may be the dawn of another revolution --- like twitter taking on the elections in Iran.
It's TV cable news trying to compete with the Internet.
The information generation. Don't stop till you get enough, indeed.
But even with the dawn of this new civilization, there's always a prehistoric voice bellowing from the petrified forest.
That would be Rush Limbaugh, and his take on Jackson's death.
Jabba the Butt belched that Jackson flourished in the Reagan years (some might argue with great success that Jackson flourished in spite of the Reagan era).
Naturally, Jabba is over-medicated himself at this point.
He has to be reminded that Jackson flourished with his brothers in the early 1970s during the Nixon years (conservatives don't like to mention Tricky Dick).
Jabba continued, saying Jackson maintained his success under Daddy Bush and Bubba Clinton.
He didn't mention that Jacko went whacko during George W.'s reign of ineptitude.
Jabba concluded with the brilliant statement that Jackson died on President Obama's watch. He added something like, "I hope this isn't a pattern."
This whole rant is of course insanity. The point being, one would suppose, that Jabba is saying if Obama hadn't won the presidency, Jackson would still be alive today.
In Limbaugh Land that would make as much sense as Obama detractors who still don't believe the prez was born in America, that he's a Muslim, he is going to take over our everyday lives, and he can't speak to the public unless there's a TelePromptr in the vicinity.
Obama waited almost a week to weigh in on Jackson's death. Called him a great entertainer. Said he grew up listening to his music and that he still has his music on his ipod.
Ironically, Jackson's death is the first instance where Obama hasn't been seen as America's superstar in the eyes of the liberal elite media.
Someone bigger than Obama has dominated an entire week.
The president will be in Russia next week when thousands will gather at the Staples Center in L.A. for the Jackson memorial.
The liberal news media got a head start.
They're not really seated when broadcasting every tid bit of news about Michael Jackson.
      They're genuflecting.
