Without the liberal lion’s roar in the Senate, the passing of Ted Kennedy may also spell the end of civility in anything having to do with anything in both Houses of Congress.
We all remember former first lady Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” to drugs campaign in the 1980s.
Well, Republicans nowadays have made that their creedo. They “Just Say No” to everything.
Speaking of the always classy Mrs. Reagan, she spoke with Chris Matthews over the phone on “Hardball” last night about the passing of her friend Teddy.
She worked with the Lion on bringing stem cell research to the fore.
Mrs. Reagan told Matthews that President Reagan and Sen. Kennedy always got along —- it didn’t matter to either man who was a Democrat or who was a Republican.
“We should have more of that now,” Mrs. Reagan concluded.
It’s about time to listen to Nancy Reagan again, gentlemen.
Instead, the nation has to deal with junk like this:
Just this week at yet another Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck “Pander to the People” Grassley’s Obama health scare town hall meeting, an angry World War II veteran said, “I’ll take a gun to Washington if enough will go with me.”
The topper to all this: The guy’s last name was Eisenhower.
