The blame game

It should come as no surprise that the failed terrorist airliner bomb plot on Christmas Day in Detroit has become a political football.

Equally not surprising, the Republican Party is guilty of unsportsman-like conduct by once again trying to capitalize on the near-tragedy.

GOP candidates running this year for re-election and election are trying the scare America "we're better at national security" hogwash tactic.

Sure, a Republican in the White House kept us safe after Sept. 11 happened. You start a regiment to religiously keep healthy after you survive a heart attack ---- even though you could've prevented a heart attack from happening in the first place had you paid attention to the warning signs.

So the blame game is on. The holidays are over. Back on the attack (some patriotic Republicans didn't even wait until the holidays were finished before blaming President Obama for the potential tragedy.)

This once again re-enforces the theory that if we're ever attacked again on a scale as massive ---- or worse ---- as Sept. 11, there would be no common ground between the two political parties to unite to defeat those responsible.

Immediately after 9-11, no one from the loyal opposition blamed the Bush administration for being asleep at the switch. Which was obviously the case. The two political parties were united ---- and the nation followed their lead.

Imagine what would have happened if we weren't united at that time. The real fear now is we're going to find that out if we're ever attacked again.

The blame game is forcing Americans to choose sides. There is no united front to defeat terrorism anymore. There is only divisiveness. And that's just what the "evil-doers" who "want to take our freedoms away" are banking on.

This is not sport ---- no one team is better at defense than the other. Not on this dangerous playing field anyway. The old cliche of "there's no "i" in team" pertains here.

"United we stand, divided we fall." The words used when our country was being founded have been replaced by partisan bravado.

"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

In this case we're not talking about the history of the American Revolution, fellow patriots.

We're talking about Rome.

Instead of playing the blame game as far as whose fault it was for that attempted terrorist plot on Christmas day ----- try taking credit.

Credit for working together on a united front to fight a common enemy.

Stop with the finger-pointing ----- didn't your mommy tell you that you could put somebody's eye out doing that?

Do we have to start treating you guys and gals like children?

You're acting like it. Like you're over-excited about hanging out at a pick-up game when sides are being chosen. "Pick me! Not him, me! I'm better!"

Recess is over.

Stop putzing around and learn something ---- especially from your past mistakes.
