The one-two punch
Not satisfied with just getting Libyan madman Moammar Khaddafy on Thursday, President Obama on Friday announced that the war in Iraq is over and the troops will be home for the holidays.
But Fox News and its political party, The Republicans, weren't about to gift-wrap any cred to put under Obama's Christmas tree.
In fact, they immediately went into defense mode. The Renegade scored again, dammit. And this time it was a two-fer ----- back-to-back foreign policy triumphs.
First bin Laden, them Khaddafy and the Iraq war ending. Hell, it's a political three-peat.
Why, this hasn't happened since.... wait, it's never happened. Not in our lifetime anyway.
The successes came so fast, the right wing-nuts just got started downplaying the Libya victory before Obama dropped the Big One on them with the Iraq War announcement.
The old one-two punch to their collective solar plexis.
Down goes Limbaugh! Down goes Limbaugh!
When Obama announced the end to the Iraq War, Fox carried the speech. Afterwards, CNN and MSNBC brought in commentators and military experts to assess the historic announcement. What did Fox News do immediately after? They started covering GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, who is still trying to make sense of his disasterous 9-9-9 plan he says will pull the economy from the abyss.
Let's see, a war that lasted nearly 10 years, took more than 4,000 American lives and cost trillions of dollars to wage, and it's overshadowed on Fox by a motivational speaker who wants to be president.
Fox News is at the top of its rigged game when it comes to burying the lead whenever President Obama scores a major league victory.
If Obama was a white Republican, he'd be the new Ronald Reagan.
Speaking of the Gipper, Fox resurrected the dead bones of its messiah, who once called Khaddafy the "mad dog of the Middle East." Not surprisingly, Foxholes mentioned Reagan more than Obama. That's right, they gave an assist in getting Khaddafy to a dead president.
It's a surprise that Fox News didn't unleash its media darling Princess Photo-Op Palin to give more credit to another Republican president for bringing the Iraq War to a close. One could just imagine her saying something like, "Well, if it wasn't for President George W. Bush getting us into that war, Obama would never been able to end it."
From the early days of Dick Nixon in the 1940s and 1950s painting Democrats as "soft on communism" to Dick Cheney brainwashing a frightened nation (9/11 played into his greasy little hands like a royal flush) into believing that the Democrats were weak on national security, liberals have been letting them get away with it.
Until now. Until the Renegade came to town.
Once again the professorial president schooled his detractors.
He learned from the mistakes of the Bush-Cheney Iraq War.
And Predator drones didn't hurt either.
They ought to rename them Obamanators.
