    President Obama officially welcomed home the troops serving in Iraq on Wednesday in a rousing speech to Marines at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
 It should have been a unifying day, but of course anything Obama accomplishes is greeted with disdain by the loyal opposition.
 Support the troops, not the commander-in-chief. Right wing-nuts chortled the golden oldie that the president, being a Democrat, did the “cut and run” in Iraq.
 You know, the war Obama didn’t start. You know, the war mess he cleaned up for Laurel and Hardy.
 And there was no Mission: Accomplished banner behind Obama when he saluted our fighting men and women.
 Don’t look to Fox News to celebrate this day. Sean Hannity presented his Top Ten list of most important news stories of 2011. Guess what major news story didn’t make the cut? You got it, the killing of Osama bin Laden.
 Hannity’s logic (which is a contradiction in terms): Oh, that. Well, if it wasn’t for Bush and Cheney torturing Muslims, Obama wouldn’t have been able to take false credit. So Abbott and Costello, who were out of power for two years, get the credit for the kill. So, therefore, in Hannity’s empty head, zapping bin Laden can’t count because it really happened when Martin and Lewis were in power.
  To quote Sean Connery’s character in “The Untouchables”: “Thus endeth the history lesson.”
 The disasterous duo of Bush and Cheney will go down in history for getting America in a war we had no reason to fight.
 Bush and Cheney are to blame for 4,500 American deaths and 30,000 wounded patriots.
 They are not exactly war criminals, but what they ordered was criminal.
 Barack Obama essentially became president because he was on the right side of being against the war in Iraq from the outset.
 Used to be that was considered to be un-American. You know, if you don’t support Bush and Cheney’s war- mongering, the terrorists will win.
 But Obama did them better by getting the mass murderer who was really responsible for 9-11. You know, the terrorist Bert and Ernie let escape so they could keep him in their rhetoric that was translated to perfection on Fox News as fear-mongering.
 It took a vindictive and misguided president to get us into the Iraq mess because his Daddy the president didn’t finish the job of getting Saddam, which junior believed cost papa re-election.
 It took a man of unquestionable patriotism, who not only got the real mass murderer responsible for attacking our soil, but finally brought closure to that diversion war of George WMD Bush and Deadeye Dick Cheney.
 It was Obama who brought the troops home in time for the holidays.
 Hoorah!, Mr. President.
