Cody White returns to 66ers, St. Clair goes up

The Sixers made a roster move on Friday, as left-hander Cody White joinedted the team from extended spring training.

White was very good for the Sixers in 2007 and 2008. In 2007, he went 2-3 with a 3.90 ERA in 12 starts and in 2008, he went 6-3 with a 3.28 ERA in 12 appearances (10 starts) before he was promoted to Double-A Jacksonville. At Jacksonville, he went 4-6 with a 6.12 ERA.

But White missed the whole 2009 season after undergoing shoulder surgery. He’s pitching out of the bullpen currently for the Sixers, although pitching coach Charlie Hough said White went as many as four innings in spring training.

White made his 2010 debut in Saturday’s game in the third inning when starter Geison Aguasviva was rocked for six runs against Visalia.

Left-hander Cole St. Clair was promoted to Double-A Chattanooga to make room for White.

St. Clair was 0-1 with two saves and a 2.25 ERA, striking out 15 in 12 innings for the Sixers.

“He was ready,” Hough said. “He needed to go somewhere where he’d be challenged.”
