After the Sixers won the first two games this season, the Quakes rebounded in Game 3, rallying for a 5-4 victory.

The Sixers got on the board first, courtesy of a three-run homer by Jett Bandy off Garrett Gould in the second inning. The Quakes had gone 16 innings without scoring a run before Chris O’Brien’s RBI single in the fourth cut the deficit to 3-1.

It remained 3-1 until the sixth, when the Quakes rallied against reliever Johnny Holtman.

Austin Gallagher led off with a single to right, and Tyler Henson belted a homer to left, tying the score 3-3. Jonathan Garcia singled, and with one out, Chris O’Brien reached on an infield single.

Tony Delmonico then followed with a triple off the wall in left-center, his first hit of the season after starting 0 for 8, to give the Quakes 5-3 lead. Delmonico was then thrown out at home on a missed squeeze attempt by Pedro Guerrero.

The Sixers rallied in the seventh against Quakes reliever Scott McGough (1-0). Bandy led off with a double, went to third on a flyout and Rolando Gomez walked with two outs. McGough then tried the fake-to-third, throw-to-first pickoff move, but was called for a balk to make it 5-4.

But McGough got Taylor Lindsey to ground out. Then Logan Bawcom, who was unavailable opening night to close because he pitched in the Freeway Series on Wednesday, retired all six batters he faced, striking out three, to earn the save.
