66ers batter Lee, beat Quakes again

Donn Roach (5-0) wasn’t quite his usual dominant self, but got plenty of run support and had his longest outing of the year, 7 2/3 innings and the Sixers (15-12) downed the Quakes (10-17) 11-6 at the Epicenter.

The Sixers have won five in a row overall, including the first two of the three-game series in Rancho Cucamonga. They have also won five of six games this season against the Quakes, all at the Epicenter.

Roach, the league-leader in wins, probably wouldn’t have been out there that long if not for the offense, which got to Quakes starter Zach Lee (1-2) early. Lee gave up seven earned runs in four innings as the Sixers broke the game open with a five-run fourth for a 7-2 lead. It was the most runs Lee had allowed in his two-year pro career.

Three Sixers had three hits apiece: Jeremy Cruz (3 for 5 with two runs, a home run and three RBIs), C.J. Cron (3 for 4 with three runs, a home run and an RBI), and Brian Hernandez (3 for 4 with two RBIs).

Roach allowed six runs (five earned) while striking out seven and walking none. Bryant George got the final four outs, earning his first save because he entered the game with a 9-6 lead.

Chris O’Brien was 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs for the Quakes.
