Quakes keep winning, 66ers lose

Both the Quakes and 66ers played one-run games on Wednesday.
The Quakes pulled out a 7-6 victory in the ninth inning against Stockton, while the 66ers fell 5-4 at Lake Elsinore. The win was the fourth in a row for the Quakes.


The Quakes had led 6-2 before the Ports scored four in the seventh to tie the score.
In the ninth, Casio Grider doubled with two outs, Gabe Suarez followed with a walk and Joc Pederson’s single to left scored Grider.

Meanwhile, Tommy Medica’s third hit of the game, a solo homer in the sixth, snapped a 4-4 game and the 66ers fell.

Lake Elsinore still leads the South Division for the No. 1 wild card spot, with a 63-58 record. Lancaster is a game back, holding the No. 2 wild-card spot at 62-59. The Quakes (60-61) are just two games back of Lancaster, while the 66ers (56-65) dropped to six games back of Lancaster.
