Van Slyke stops in San Bernardino

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Scott Van Slyke was in San Bernardino on Wednesday wrapping up a three-game stint the with Rancho Cucamonga Quakes who were in town playing Inland Empire.

It was familiar ground for Van Slyke, who played for the Sixers in 2009 when it was a Dodgers affiliate and he was on his way up the minor league ladder.

Van Slyke said he saw a lot of familiar faces. He played seven innings in left field and came out of the game. He was in the locker room when the Sixers’ Michael Snyder hit a two-run home run in the ninth to win the game for the home team.

“I heard the horn so I pretty much knew what happened,” he said. “That horn isn’t a good thing if you’re the visiting team.

Van Slyke came off the disabled list on Friday and was in uniform at Dodgers Stadium where the Dodgers were taking on the Philadelphia Phillies.
