Welcome

I'd just like to welcome everyone over to the latest addition to the Whittier Daily News blogosphere.

Some of you fine folks may already know who I am, but for others, let me give a brief introduction.

My name is Andrew J. Campa and I'm a prep and college sports writer for the Whittier Daily News. I've been involved in journalism now for the last seven years, having worked at various posts throughout Southern California.

I've been at the Daily News now for the last nine months after working the past 4 ½ years between the Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune and San Bernardino Sun. I have also freelanced along the way for several other papers and websites, so I like to talk about preps outside the area as well.

Now, as far as plans for this blog, I'd like to keep it light. Many of you have already perused Roger Murray's blog and other blogs from our sister papers. I will make this blog informative but I don't just want this to be a forum for the bitter. If you have credible information, please feel free to post it.

I'm going to blog often about football, even in the off-season. However, I will also post about other sports, including the “minor sports” and some area college sports at least once a week.

But to give you a head's up, I also plan on blogging a little about “out of area” schools if something big happens.

I have a lot of other plans, but I don't want to bore you. I look forward to blogging and please feel free to give me suggestions on how this service can be improved.
