There's a nice profile of Jean Chamberlin, a VP on the Boeing C-17 project, in today's Los Angeles Times. She says the fate of the Long Beach-based program keeps her up at night. The Pentagon has recommended killing the military transport plane program, which employs about 5,000 in Long Beach. An avid runner and Long Beach resident, Chamberlin wakes up at 4 a.m. to train for the Long Beach Marathon. Read the story at http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-himi3-2009may03,0,4811527.story

I doubt Jean Chamberlin has sleepless nights ever. How did she get to the top? She doesn't have job worries, she's a VP. Her job is more secure than the 5000 people that will eventually be laid off. Upper management always holds the strings to their success and the losses to the support staff. The bottom dollar always wins. No one can compete with third world slave wages. God bless old America. Where did she go? Long Beach is another second world city and the poorest in LA county. They, upper management did that including Jean Chamberlin.
