PCC Journalism class

| | Comments (0) |

What a great opportunity I had today. I was asked to speak to the brand new journalism students at PCC and talk about my crazy job and the technology changes newspapers are enduring. Warren Swil is the instructor and a former collegue of mine who invited me to speak. Thanks for the chance. Great questions, and a wonderfully air-conditioned lecture hall.

New voice to the blogosphere

I've been online for years, but I'm a relative newbie to blogs. I'm going to talk extensively about newspapers and technology here, and I'm going to address as many photojournalistic issues as I can. I have a staff of 8 photographers who are running into all sorts of problems doing their jobs. Access problems are one of the big ones, and with schools opening back up for another school year, access once again will be a common issue for us. I'll bring those issues to light here for discussion with anyone who wants to partake. I'm hoping for this blog to be alive with comments.

About this blog

Photography and technology have merged, and there's no better example than our newspapers and our photographers. The photo staff is entirely digital, shooting award-winning still photographs and also quickly adopting video. With the changes in photo and technology, perceptions about the business of photography are changing. Let's use this forum to talk about the photography in our papers.
