4-1-08 Photo of the Day
68 photos to choose from, and it was photo number 68 that became the Photo of the Day. Raul Roa, who has made a name for himself shooting photos of birds in the SGV and Whittier got this beautiful photo. Caption reads: A female Anna's hummingbird, right, feeds a fledgling as it rests on a branch near its nest at the Whittier Narrows Nature Center in South El Monte. The young bird was seen trying out its wings as it flew for a few seconds at a time from one small branch to another. According to the USGS Patuent Wildlife Research Center's website this little birds fledge 18-23 days after being born.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
I've been absent for some time, but now I remember why I used to love this blog. Thank you, I will try and check back more often. How frequently you update your website?
I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is required to get setup? I'm assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I'm not very web savvy so I'm not 100% positive. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
