4-27-08 Photo of the Day

A long break, I know. I return with excellent photos this week. Two photos represent today's Photo of the Day. The story that got everyone's attention from the Santa Anita Fires over the weekend was the wedding party that had to be rescued. This photo was shot by a member of the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team. The caption reads: This photo shows Jon Pedder of the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team directing the evacuation of 42 members of the wedding party at Camp Sturtevant, 3 1/2 miles north of Chantry Flats (North of Sierra Madre) during the fire. This picture shows the loading of one of four trips made by the helicopter. Taken by Roger Gray (member of Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team)

Not to toot my own horn, but this photo worked out well. The caption reads: An Aero Union bomber dumps fire retardant on the front line of the western edge of the fire either known as the Santa Anita Canyon Fire or the Chantry fire.

About this blog

Photography and technology have merged, and there's no better example than our newspapers and our photographers. The photo staff is entirely digital, shooting award-winning still photographs and also quickly adopting video. With the changes in photo and technology, perceptions about the business of photography are changing. Let's use this forum to talk about the photography in our papers.
