Shopping spree in Chino held for teens

The annual Shop with a Cop shopping spree for children and teens in need will be held at the Chino Spectrum Wal-Mart on Saturday, Dec. 20, beginning at 6:45 a.m.

Each young participant gets $200 each to spend for shopping through the store. The money was donated by the Sheriff's Employees Benefits Association.

"A lot of times people don't have a positive experience with the Sheriff's," said Sheriffs Service Specialist Selena Morgan. "This way children do have positive experiences with the department. They can have a positive experience with police officers and deputies."

Hi, my name is Irma Ramirez I am a single mother who lives in the city of Chino I am currently struggling to meet ends meet while going to school full time and trying to find a part time job. I hoping to haev a chtristamas this year I ahve always held a good job and never really struggled with any of my financies, but do to the economy it has effected me, so I am hoping that I will soon get at least a part time job to get some of my bills paid. I do have two wounderful kids my daughter name is Alyssa Romero and she is 8 years old and my son name is Issac Romero and he is 4 years old and, and sad to say, but the truth is they have both had their fair share of bad experiences with the cops due to their father having a drug problem I am ashamed to say that I kept going back to him thinking and believing that he would one day change, but as we all know that nver happend. The very last time he went to prison I said that was enough of my childeren having to go through horrible situations and having them live in an unsafe enviroment. I diden't care what it took I was determind to move on and fully provide for my kids all on my own and I have done it so far without any help from their father in fact we are happier now as a family with out him then before, but he has left some scars behind and fears so much so that my 4 year old son is so afraid of cops no matter what I tell him how good cops are, they keep us from the bad guuys it still does not help. He always cries or gets scared when he see's a cop he will tell " mommy their is a cop" is he going to arrest you it is the most saddest thing that I have heard a 4 year say I always tell him No did u or I do something bad and he says No then you have nothing to worry about unless you do something bad to someone to hurt them or harm them. If sirens are heard he cries I do not know how to get the fear out of him I am hoping this event will help him see the best thing cops do for us everyday and maybe in a more relaxed enviroment and more better expeirence will help him better understand that cops are not bad people they only get the bad people off the street and put them away, but taht they risk their lives for us each and everyday so I hope to get a chance to join shop with a cop .
