Johnstone headliner of Scouts golf tourney
Former Dodger and Angel outfielder Jay Johnstone on June 29 will headline the Boy Scouts Of America California Inland Empire Inaugural Golf Classic at Western Hills Country Club.
Proceeds will benefit scouts in the Chino, Chino Hills, Corona, Eastvale and Norco communities.
Johnstone is a veteran of more than 20 years in the major leagues with the Angels, Yankees, Phillies, Cubs and Dodgers.
He is best remembered for a pinch-hit, two-run homerun in Game 4 of the 1981 World Series. The homer helped the Dodgers win the game and go on to win the series.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. with registration and lunch, which will be followed by a shotgun start at noon.
Dinner, raffle, prizes, silent auction and inspirational talk by Johnstone will highlight the evening.
There will be prizes, opportunity drawings and a silent auction.
Corona Nissan is offering a 2009 Nissan Rogue as a hole-in-one prize.
Tickets are $150 per person and $600 per foursome.
The country club is at 1800 Carbon Canyon Road in Chino Hills.
