Local Sector Superintendent John Rowe has accepted a promotion to Lake Perris as the Sector Superintendent III.

Rowe worked at the Chino Hills State Park and California Citrus State Historic Park for two years.

His new sector III includes San Timiteo Canyon, Wildwood Canyon Park and Lake Perris, where Rowe grew up.

"My first experience at Lake Perris, I was 3 years old, fishing off the dam," Rowe said. "I grew up fishing with my father most of the weekends at Lake Perris so it's very close to my heart."

Rowe's professional life at Lake Perris began when he became a seasonal lifeguard at the age of 17. As a college student he returned during the summer as a ranger.

Rowe eventaully became a supervising ranger and visiting services superintendent before being transferred to the Chino Hills State Park and CA Citrus State Historic Park.

Rowe was sector superintendent last year when the Freeway Complex Fire burned 13,800 acres of Chino Hills State Park's 14,112 acres.
