Former City Hall to serve as location for firefighter training site
The now-vacant buildings that served as Chino Hills City Hall for 17 years will come to life for a firefighter survival training exercise.
The training for Chino Valley firefighters will be from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday through Tuesday.
"Training opportunities in vacant buildings provide our firefighters with realistic but safe conditions in which to enhance their skills," fire Capt. Scott Atkinson said.
"Continued training is critical for firefighters because it gives them the tools they need when they walk into real-life emergencies."
Impacts on nearby neighborhoods should be minimal.
"The city and the (fire) district look for ways to work together to benefit our residents," said Kchathy Gotch, Chino Hills assistant city manager.
"The offices have many small confined spaces which are perfect for training -- we were more than happy to meet their request to use the buildings."
Drills will consist of various scenarios that firefighters face during a building fire or collapse.
Firefighters will train on what to do in the event they become trapped.
