Interim Chino Valley Unified School District Superintendent Wayne Joseph wants to stay in the top role.

But first, the school board wants the public to weigh in on whom they would like to see in that position.

The board kicked off a series of forums at Don Lugo High School on Monday to gather characteristics the public would like to see in the district's next superintendent.

Edmond Heatley resigned the job in July to take a similar role in a Georgia school district.

A forum moderator received suggestions from a crowd of a few dozen people. A district official marked down words and phrases suggested by attendees to describe desirable qualities.
Among the suggestions were integrity, passion, sense of humor, dedication and a good communicator.

"My biggest thing is, I think they need to get somebody who has been a teacher and has done administration, so they can bring their experience and know what they're doing," Chino High School teacher Adriana Cardena said.

Cardena supports Joseph as permanent superintendent.

Joseph's experience and connection with the district has been consistently mentioned in his praise.

Chino High parent Kim Senegal echoed Cardena's statements.
"I think Wayne Joseph would be an excellent superintendent," Senegal said. "He's committed to the district and wants to stay and retire. He would be perfect."
