Chino Valley firefighters raise funds for MDA

| | Comments (0)
For two days last week, Chino Valley Fire District firefighters stood at various intersections ion Chino and Chino Hills with a boot in hand as part of the annual "Fill the Boot" campaign aimed at raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The event ran last Friday and Saturday and generated a donation total of $16,807, almost double that of last year. All donations collected by firefighters will go directly toward the many research and care programs provided by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The MDA is a volunteer health agency working to defeat more than 40 forms of muscular dystrophy and related diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education.
"The outpouring of support from the communities of Chino and Chino Hills was amazing," said fire Capt. Mike O'Toole. "We are very grateful for everyone's generosity and for the efforts of all of our off duty firefighters and administrative staff put into making this event such a success."
Last year, Chino Valley firefighters raised about $8,600.
