Firefighters report on area activities

The Chino Valley Independent Fire District responded to numerous calls:
- At 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters noticed a large amount of smoke coming from the backyard area of a single-family residence in the 4500 block of Elm Street in Chino. Firefighters found the homeowner burning leaves in the backyard area. The homeowner was advised that burning is not allowed without a burn permit. 
- At 2:04 p.m. Monday, firefighters responded to the 12900 block of Ramona Avenue and found a resident burning gardening waste in a contained pit. The resident was informed that a burn permit is required.
- At 10:28 a.m. Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to a cooking fire in the 11900 block of Central Avenue in Chino. Firefighters found food left in the oven too long.
- At 2:46 p.m. last Friday, firefighters responded to the 12540 block of Norton Avenue in Chino and found a pine tree and brush under the tree on fire. Firefighters contained the fire to the tree and brush and extinguished the fire.
