CHINO -- A longtime Chino policeman will soon be the department's top cop.

City officials on Tuesday announced Capt. Miles Pruitt would replace retiring Police Chief Stan Stewart.

"I suppose the reason most police officers join law enforcement is because they believe they can make a positive influence, and that was my motivation for going into law enforcement as well," Pruitt said. "I felt I could make a positive impact in my community."

Pruitt will take charge of the Police Department on Nov. 6, City Manager Pat Glover said.

Pruitt has been with the Police Department since 1983. For the past two years, he has been captain of the operations division.

Pruitt has also served as patrolman, supervisor of the SWAT team and patrol watch commander. He also served in the detective bureau, enforcement detail and technical services unit.

"I'm honored to be selected as the chief of police for Chino and I look forward to continuing to serve the community and the men and women of the Chino Police Department," Pruitt said.

Stewart announced his retirement Aug. 20.

Captain Pruitt will make an outstanding chief. The community of Chino should support this decision as the police department moves forward.

Dear Sir,
You know both my parents Nancy & david pritchard. They are being abuse by their neighbor daily. Being called very bad names and threatens them all the time. They even tell my parents to go into the house and die. They bang on the fence to get them to bark then tell them to shut the f.. up, or hit the fence with a newspaper. They also have cut slots into the black paper on the fence my parent put up so they would stop being watched by the neighbor Their names are Eric & sharri gibson plus their two kids bruce & trish gibson. They all do the abuse and are mean to my parents & dogs. Please help me stop them from hurting my mom & dad. Its killing them & scares their dogs to the point they wont go out after they get yelled at by the neighbors. There has to be a way to stop them please. My mom used to work for the city and she thinks the world of you could you please help me.The neighbor also smokes pot and meth un their back yard so it goes right into my parents house. Thank you for your time Kitty Cooper
