Sirens sounding, lights flashing for charity event

hino Valley Independent Fire District firefighters and San Bernardino County Sheriff/Chino Hills Police Department officers will be escorting 100 students from the Chino Valley Unified School District with lights flashing and sirens sounding to the Chino Wal-Mart as part of the eighth annual "Make a Child Smile" Code 3 Delivery program on Dec. 16.
The school buses will depart from Chino Valley Fire District Fire Station 66, 13707 Peyton Drive in Chino Hills, at 9:25 a.m. with a fire and police escort. They will arrive at Wal-Mart, 3943 Grand Ave. in Chino, at 9:30 a.m., where they will be paired up to shop with a firefighter or a police officer and a Wal-Mart employee. Participating law enforcement agencies include the Chino Police Department and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
The Chino Valley Independent Fire District Professional Firefighters and Fire Foundation have been raising money throughout the year for the event.
Another part of the Make a Child Smile Program is the Senior Delivery, when firefighters serve lunch to seniors and raffle off prizes. This year's event will begin at 11 a.m. Dec. 10 at the Chino Senior Center, 13170 Central Ave.

The Fire Foundation is also looking for new members to fill the foundation's Board of Directors for the 2010-11 term.
