Assemblyman Curt Hagman Receives an Unexpected Christmas Gift

ssemblyman Curt Hagman recently learned that he is the owner of $174.90 in unclaimed property, according to California's Unclaimed Property Program at the State's Controller's office.
 
Under California law, businesses and financial institutions are required to report property to the Controller's office. If unclaimed by the owner the assets are sent to the state. Currently California possesses $1.5 billion in unclaimed property, which is divided amongst 8.2 million individuals and organizations.
 
"What a great Christmas gift," stated Assemblyman Hagman after learning about his unclaimed property, "I had no idea I had this money coming. Everyone should take a minute, go online and check and see if they have money due to them."
 
Citizens can search the online database at www.sco.ca.gov.
