Sirens and lights Make a Child Smile

Dozens of Chino Valley Unified School District students were part of a holiday shopping spree Wednesday, made possible by the firefighters of the Chino Valley Independent Fire District.
Chino Valley firefighters and San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies escorted 100 students from the district with lights flashing and sirens sounding to the Chino Wal-Mart as part of the 8th annual "Make a Child Smile" Code 3 Delivery program.
Students arrived at Wal-Mart, 3943 Grand Ave., at 9:30 a.m. Once there, they were paired up to shop with a firefighter or a police officer and a Wal-Mart associate.
Food and entertainment was provided to the children as they finished their shopping experience. Participating law enforcement agencies included the Chino Police Department and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
The Chino Valley Independent Fire District Professional Firefighters and Fire Foundation have been raising money throughout the year to help make the holidays a little brighter for some families that are having a tough time this year.
There are three programs under the Make a Child Smile Program, which includes the Code 3 Delivery, a Special Delivery and a Senior Delivery, where firefighters serve lunch to seniors and raffle off prizes.
