The Association of California School Administrators has chosen three Chino Valley Unified administrators as the best at what they do.
The 2010 Administrator of the Year Awards went to Preston Carr, secondary principal of the year, Jaime Camacho, middle schools principal of the year, and Heather Williams, special education administrator of the year.
Carr, principal at Don Lugo High, was nominated for spearheading academic growth through school reforms and innovations.
He came to the district in 2000 as an assistant principal at Ayala High and was named principal of Don Lugo High in 2002. Carr worked as an assistant principal and high school counselor prior to joining the district.
Camacho, principal at Canyon Hills Junior High, was selected for promoting collaboration including the introduction of professional learning community strategies and the establishment of power lunches that enable her to work with students who are struggling.
Camacho joined the district as an assistant principal in 2006 and was named principal in 2007.
Williams, director of special education, was honored for her vision and mission that centers on what is best for children, which includes the involvement of families in decision-making. Williams has been with the district since 2000 when she became principal at Dickson Elementary School. She moved to the Special Education Department in 2007. Williams was a teacher and assistant principal before joining the district.
