CHINO - The Department of Public Health is partnering with school districts to continue to offer free H1N1 vaccinations to all county residents. Chino Valley Unified School District will host a free clinic from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Woodcrest Junior
High School, 2725 S. Campus Ave., Ontario. Anyone over six (6) months f age is eligible for the vaccination.

"The District is doing everything possible to keep students safe, healthy and in school, it's the best place for students to be Monday through Friday," said Julie Gobin, District Spokeswoman.

The flu season typically peaks in February and March. The 2009 H1N1 season is expected to last into the spring of 2010 and can last as late as April or May.

During the 1957-58 pandemic, flu activity dropped in December and January. Public health officials assumed the worst was over and stopped encouraging people to get vaccinated. Then flu activity increased abruptly n February and March and hospitalizations and deaths increased as well.

That was an important lesson, even if flu activity declines in January, as it has this year, the season is not over. It's still important to get vaccinated aainst the flu and be as prepared as possible if activity increases again this season.
