Four Title I schools in Chino Valley are working together for student success by engaging parents' help.

Howard Cattle, Alicia Cortez, Walnut Ave. and Magnolia Junior High will be holding their first Parent Academy. The dates are March 1, 8, 15, 22, and ending with a potluck dinner and parent graduation ceremony on March 29. The workshops are held at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Magnolia JHS. The workshops are free of charge to parents and child care is provided.

Topics covered in the Parent Academy include: organization of the school system, understanding the California Standards Test and its impact on students, increasing parent involvement at home and at school, high school graduation requirements, and the path to helping your child attend college or be career ready.

Cortez Principal Rod Federwisch, Cattle Principal Kim Keys, Walnut Principal Toni Herr, Magnolia Principal Melody Kohn, and CVUSD Title I /ELD Program Specialist Carol Garman helped develop the program and are also teaching the workshops.

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
