Officials in Chino and Chino Hills issued 48 citations for illegal fireworks on the Fourth of July, according to a Chino news release.

Each citation carries a fine of $1,000.

Forty-seven of the citations were issued in Chino and one in Chino Hills, according to the news release.

Officials said they confiscated numerous commercial-grade airborne fireworks, known as mortars. The seized fireworks fill one-and-a-half 55-gallon drums, according to the news release.

There were no fires from fireworks during the holiday, though there was one injury, officials said.

An 18-year-old Chino man suffered a head injury while using illegal fireworks. He was treated at the Chino Valley Medical Center in Chino, according to the news release.
