Stars of Chino Hills fill a backpack with supplies
The Chino Hills STARS program -- Supplies to Assist "R" Students -- helps children in the city who are unable to afford basic school supplies and backpacks for the 2011-12 school year.
The city is accepting donations of backpacks and school supplies to benefit boys and girls in Kindergarten through 6th grade.

Donated backpacks and supplies will be accepted from 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Aug. 16 at the McCoy Equestrian and Recreation Center, 14280 Peyton Drive.

Deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Friday.
