My Name Is Spinoza art project to debut at Pitzer College
Dutch artist Job Koelewijn will present Mondial Reading Performance, a part of the global art project My Name Is Spinoza on Dec. 3.
The event takes place at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 3 at the Gold Student Center Multipurpose Room at Pitzer College. The campus is at 1050 N. Mills Ave.
Koelewijn will orchestrate a group of 40 to 50 people to recite excerpts of Baruch de Spinoza's Ethica, according to a Pitzer College news release.
"Performing as a choir, the group will stand as one to alternately recite a sentence to establish a rhythm within the group," according to the news release.
"We are honored to be selected as the Los Angeles site to host this highly unique participatory performance that focuses on freedom of speech, justice and tolerance, all values that Pitzer College promotes and holds dear," said Ciara Ennis, director and curator of Pitzer Art Galleries, in a news release.
