African Tour program this weekend at Packing House

The African Tour: Arts, Cultures and Shared Global Communities Program will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The event is free but some discussions and workshops cost $5 or $10. It will take place inside the Forum Bookstore & Gallery in the Packing House, 532 W. 1st St. No. 586.

Artists, organizations and other individuals will present their work pertaining to the African continent and its individual communities.

On Sunday there will be an African dance and movement class with live drumming and speakers.

Minister Gabree Amlack, a specialist of Mayan history, will speak about a cultural perspective on 2012 from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. with a workshop on Sunday.

Other topics include the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and Voices of African mothers and Living in Joy No Matter What.

Also featured will be Tish Limpert's photography in Africa and handcrafted art.
