Population growth to be discussed Jan. 9

The League of Women Voters of the Claremont Area will host Marilyn Hempel, who will present the topic "Population Growth Better - Not Bigger."

According to the League of Women Voters of the Claremont Area news release, Hempel is the co-founder and Executive Director of Blue Planet United, a non-profit organization "dedicated to helping people make connections between population stabilization, sustainable consumption, and the preservation of wild landscapes and seascapes."

For the last 21 years, Hempel is also the editor of the news journal the Population Press.

The program will be presented from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 9 inside the Padua Room of the Alexander Hughes Community Center, at 1700 Danbury Rd.

A RSVP is required by Jan. 6.

The program is $10 and includes lunch.
