20th annual "Making Change" contest deadline Friday reminder
The city's Human Services Commission and Committee on Human Relations have announced the 20th annual "Making Change" contest to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and other leaders of social justice and human rights.
"This contest presents an opportunity for Claremont students to honor and remember all that these advocates of social change have done to transform our world for the better," according to a city news release.
Students in grades K-12 who attend school or live in Claremont can send in individual essays, poems and letters or artistic creations completed as a group.
An award ceremony for participants and families is tentatively scheduled for February 2 at the Alexander Hughes Community Center.
Winners from six different categories will receive a city certificate and a $100 United States Saving Bond.
The deadline for all entries is Friday..
