4th of July Celebration reminder
Tickets for the Claremont 4th of July Celebration fireworks show, hosted by Pomona College on the Strehle Track, are on sale.
LCR will perform a concert at 6:30 p.m. and the fireworks start at 9 p.m.
The Kiwanis Club of Claremont will have a concession stand with food and beverage items for sale.
Tickets for the Fireworks Show are available for sale at Claremont City Hall, 207 North Harvard Ave.; Claremont Chamber of Commerce, 205 North Yale Ave.; Alexander Hughes Community Center, 1700 Danbury Rd.; Vons, 550 East Baseline Rd.; and Wolfe's Market, 160 W. Foothill Blvd.
Ticket prices are $8 presale and $10 at the gate if available.

7 - 10 a.m. Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast
7:30 a.m. - Freedom 5000 1K/5K
9 - 4 p.m. Festival
9:30 a.m. - An Interfaith Celebration of the American Spirit
10 a.m. - Flag Raising and Opening Ceremonies
10 a.m. - Food Booths Open
10:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Willard Hunter Speaker's Corner
4 p.m. - Independence Day Parade
6:30 p.m. - LCR Live Concert
9 p.m. - Amazing Fireworks Show
Theme: Elizabeth Boyett, sixth Grader at Western Christian School in Claremont, submitted the theme for the 2010 4th of July Celebration.
Grand Marshal, Honored Citizen and Honored Group: Grand Marshal is Paul and Kay Held, Honored Citizen is Rita Wodinsky and the Honored Group is Claremont After School Programs (CLASP).
Claremont Idol National Anthem Contest:
- Kristina Leopold, Claremont Idol Winner, will sing National Anthem at the Fireworks Show
- Siarah Barnum, Claremont Idol Runner Up, will sing National Anthem at 5K;
- Alex Hutzell, April Stephenson and Amber Ray (Trio), Claremont Idol Runners Up will sing National Anthem at Opening Ceremonies
- Seraphina Oney, Claremont Idol Runner Up will sing God Bless America at Opening Ceremonies
- Daru Ahmed, Claremont Idol Runner Up will sing American the Beautiful at Opening Ceremonies
Parade Applications: Parade applications are available for downloading on the City website at www.claremont4th.org or for pick up at the Alexander Hughes Community Center, 1700 Danbury Rd. Applications are due at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Freedom 5000 5K Registration is open: Registration is open for the Claremont Village Freedom 5000 1K/5K. Participants may register online at active.com or in person at the Alexander Hughes Community Center, 1700 Danbury Rd.
Willard Hunter Speaker's Corner: Speaker's Corner time slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis but must be pre-arranged. Those interested should contact Karen Rosenthal at kr.4th@verizon.net to sign up.
