Foothill Transit fare increase implemented June 27
Foothill Transit will increase their fare from $1 to $1.25 and raise passes and other fares by about 10 percent.
The increase goes into effect June 27 with two lines being eliminated and some schedule frequency and route changes July 18 after a fiscal year 2011 budget deficit that came to about
$3 million in service cuts, according to a Claremont news release.
Line 852, which includes the Pomona Transit Center and Fairplex Drive in Pomona, is
scheduled to stop running July 18. Other changes include Line 292 with service between the
Pomona Transit Center and Claremont Transit, where weekday service will continue but weekend service will be cancelled.
The original proposal for service reductions included the elimination of 13 lines and a $12.5 million deficit figure for fiscal year 2011 because of declining sales tax revenue and severe budget cuts to transportation funding.
