Sustainable Claremont to hold design workshop; sustainability dialog
Sustainable Claremont will hold "Landscaping with Beautiful Native Plants and Efficient Irrigation Systems," a free practical design workshop, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 11.
Experts will give presentations and audience members can ask questions. The workshop will be held in Pomona College's Hahn Building, Room 101, 420 N. Harvard Ave.
Sustainable Claremont will also hold a sustainability dialog on "Project Green Haiti" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 13.
The project is Claremont Environmental Design Group's proposal to build and design 50 communities in Haiti to hold 100,000 people.
The communities would be sustainable in agriculture, shippable start-up units, water and energy.
The dialog will be held in Pomona College's Hahn Building, Room 101, 420 N. Harvard Ave.

What in hell does this Haiti project, while commendable, have to do with meeting Claremont Sustainable Taskforce energy goals for Claremont. This is a complete diversion from what needs to be done right here in Claremont.
The practical design workshop on the other hand makes perfect sense.
Michael,
I am one of the architects who developed the Haiti proposal. Our presentation will use the Haiti project and a local project that my firm built in 1987 to explain good sustainable design solves many problems at once. Our firm has done many innovative sustainable or green projects in the Claremont area that few people know about. It is interesting that people become interested in what our firm has done because of a proposal for Haiti. You can see a video that we have posted on YouTube, "Project Green Haiti"; even within this video there is much to learn how to live a more sustainable life here in the Inland Empire.
