Nomination period for March 8 election starts Monday

The nomination period for city council candidates starts at 7 a.m. Monday at the city clerk's office for the March 8, 2011 election. 

There will be three city council members elected for the March election and each will have a four-year term. 

The city clerk's office is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 207 Harvard Ave. The clerk's office, like city hall, is closed Nov. 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Nomination period closes at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 but if an incumbent doesn't file nomination papers by the deadline, the nomination time is extended to 6 p.m. Dec. 15.

Voters need to be registered 15 days before the election to vote and registration forms can be found in English and Spanish at city hall, the Claremont Public Library and the Claremont post office. City hall is at 207 Harvard Ave., the library is at 208 Harvard Ave. and the post office is at 140 N. Harvard Ave.
