Friends of the Claremont Library sponsored events for September and November

- Luis Urrea Brown Bag Lunch at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 27 inside the Assembly Room at Mt. San Antonio Gardens, 900 E. Harrison Ave. Pomona.
Author Urrea will answer audience questions and discuss his book. The free event is open to the public but lunch is $10 with advanced reservation.
- "The Magnificent Seven" screening from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 1 inside the Padua Room at the Alexander Hughes Community Center, 1700 Danbury Rd. Harvey Mudd College professor Isabel Balserio will lead the audience in a discussion afterward.
The free event is open to the public.
- A book discussion will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 inside the Community Room of the Claremont Public Library, 208 Harvard Ave. Friends of the Claremont Library members will host a community discussion. The free event is open to the public. 
- An essay contest winners reception will be held at 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 5 inside the Community Room at the Claremont Public Library. Recipients will be honored with cash awards and read their essays.
