Walmart gives grant to Shoes That Fit
Walmart gave a $7,500 grant to Shoes That Fit as part of its "12 Days of Giving" Facebook campaign that resulted in its more than 5,400 nominations from Facebook users who sent photos and gave descriptions of a nonprofit's impact on the local community, according to a Dec. 15 Walmart news release.
Shoes That Fit, at 1240 N. Claremont Blvd. Suite 107 B, gives out hundreds of thousands of new shoes and other items and uses no government funding.
"It's essential for families to have access to warm socks, coats and other clothing items," said Julie Gehrki, senior director at the Walmart Foundation according to a news release. "The organizations we honor today provide warmth and are spreading joy to families in-need this holiday season."
A Walmart Foundation panel reviewed submissions and selected nonprofits with an emphasis on groups providing basic needs including clothing, food, baby supplies and shelter.
There was a total of $85,000 given to 11 nonprofits who provide clothing to those in need, according to the release.
Over 12 consecutive days, according to the release, Walmart is awarding $1.5 million to 145 organizations in all 50 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.
