Golden State Water donates turkeys

Golden State Water Company donated 100 turkeys to help needy families in the Claremont area on Nov. 14 as part of its Operation Gobble program.

Golden State, according to a news release in advance of the Nov. 14 event, will deliver more than 7,000 turkeys for needy families in its service territory that covers parts of 75 communities in 10 counties in California.

“Golden State Water Company cares about the communities it serves, and is proud to once again provide holiday joy for deserving families through our annual Thanksgiving turkey donation,” said District Manager Ben Lewis in a statement. “Through this program, we provide a happier holiday for those who need it most. Operation Gobble also raises awareness of the issue of hunger in California.”

According to the release, Operation Gobble is a non-partisan and non-denominational effort to distribute turkeys but Golden State directs the donations to churches, community food banks and other non-profits.

Since 1990, Golden State has been distributing turkeys to disadvantaged families throughout its service areas.
