Hacienda La Puente school board interviews candidates tonight

Seven candidates vying to fill a vacancy on
the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District board of education will
be interviewed by the board starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The interviews will be conducted in open session during a special board meeting.

The seven candidates are: Gloria Alderete, Norayma Cabot, Gil Anthony
Duarte, John M. Eckman, Henry E. Gonzales, Cynthia Greenup and Salvador
J. Hinojosa.

Each are attempting to fill the unexpired term of former board member
Anita Perez, 74, who stepped down July 1 after serving 19 years on the
board of education. Her term ends in November 2013.

Last month, the school board received a letter from the candidates
stating their interest, as well as a resume. The candidates were each
given a list of questions to be asked by the four existing board members
during Monday night’s open interview session. The meeting will take
place at the district’s board room, 15959 E. Gale Ave., Hacienda
Heights.

Each candidate will be given a chance to answer questions from the
board. The candidates also will be allowed a three minute opening
statement and a one-minute closing statement.

The four members of the board are scheduled to make a selection and
move to approve their appointment at the regular board meeting of July
26.
