Airlink 101 AWLL3028 USB WiFi in Ubuntu 8.04 update for Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009
I've had the Airlink 101 AWLL3028 USB WiFi running all morning in Ubuntu 8.04, and there have been no crashes.
That's a very good sign.
My next task is to tackle why with any wireless NIC (of the three I have), I can't manage to configure NetworkManager (a GNOME pox) to connect to my Netgear router with WEP. Soon enough I'm going to move to WPA2, and perhaps that will solve the problem.
I can go into "Roaming Mode" in NetworkManager and then manually type in the WEP key, but when I set up a location I either can't reach the gateway (with static IP) or can't get an IP at all (with DHCP). I'll have to turn off the encryption and see if then I can configure NetworkManager to connect to this router, then try WPA2.
Again, I can connect in "roaming mode." But overall, once again, things shouldn't be this hard.
