Us California boys don’t like tornadoes

That partial power outage in the waning seconds of the second quarter Wednesday night in Game 2 between the Clippers and host Oklahoma City Thunder did not take long to resolve. After a few minutes the coaches agreed to finish the half with the light that was there. And then minutes  into halftime they seemed to be fully restored.

The drama had only just begun.

At the end of the game the PA announcer told everyone at Chesapeake Energy Arena  in Oklahoma City they should stay inside until a severe storm passed. Not long after, in the deadline room there were TVs with reports of the severe weather, including a small tornado apparently touching down south of Oklahoma City.

Warnings of the severe weather complete with flash-flooding were popping on the phone of yours truly.

Crazy as the weather can be in OKC, by the time we stuck our heads outside after filing our stories, it had passed. It was wet as all get-out, but the brunt of the storm was gone.

For a lifetime Californian, a little scary.

Be back there next Tuesday for Game 5. Meanwhile, Game 3 is Friday at Staples Center. Game 4 is Sunday there.
