Shelly Sterling attends Clippers’ Game 3 against Oklahoma City Thunder

Undeterred by public perception, Los Angeles Clippers Shelly Sterling attended Game 3 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, sitting in a Staples Center suite on Friday night.

She has attended every Clippers home game since Game 5 of the first-round series against the Golden State Warriors, despite many in the city calling for her to also relinquish her stake in the franchise. Prior to Game 4, the team protested Sterling by tossing their warm-up jackets at halfcourt of Oracle Arena, and turning their long-sleeved shirts inside out to obscure the team logo.

Head coach Doc Rivers said Thursday that Shelly Sterling’s continued ownership would be “very difficult” for the team, but added that she is free to attend the game like any other ticketholder. He chose not to comment as to whether or not it would be appropriate for her to do so.

“I don’t know the answer to that,” Rivers said. “There’s no playbook. I think what’s ‘appropriate’ is what everyone thinks is appropriate. Not whether I think it is or not. It’s what the masses think. And that doesn’t mean the masses are right. If we’ve learned anything, it’s that the masses can be wrong in this.”
