It’s been no secret that the Clippers are interested in small forward Paul Pierce of the Brooklyn Nets. That has been reported by this and other outlets. But Wednesday, ESPN.com reported that the Clippers are actually involved in talks for a sign-and-trade deal with the Nets. This, the report said, was “according to sources with knowledge of the situation.”

If the deal takes place, it would reunite Pierce with Rivers, who were player and coach at Boston.

The story suggested any accord would likely include a combination of Clippers Jared Dudley, Matt Barnes and Reggie Bullock.

Pierce, 36, attended Inglewood High and Kansas. He played for Boston the first 15 years of his pro career before toiling for Brooklyn this past season. The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder has a career scoring average of 21.3. However, he averaged a career-low 13.5 in 2013-14.
