Chris Paul on Monday was named Western Conference Player of the Week by the NBA. He averaged 26 points, 11.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals in victories over Charlotte, Sacramento, Washington and New Orleans. Coach Doc Rivers liked hearing it because he believes Paul is taken for granted.

“Yeah, I’m actually surprised anyone noticed,” he said. “He’s been doing this for about a month now and it’s really gone unnoticed, that I know of. I mean, I don’t know, maybe people have been talking about it. It’s good for him. I don’t care how good you are, it’s still good to be recognized.”

Paul was moved, but not much.

“Cool,” he said. “I think it’s happened before, so I’m honored.”
