One of the knocks on the Clippers this past season was they weren’t deep enough on the bench. That doesn’t figure to be an issue in the upcoming campaign, not with all the new players being brought in to shore up the roster.

The Clippers this week signed power forward/center Chuck Hayes. The Clippers had already signed forwards Paul Pierce, Josh Smith and Wesley Johnson; guard Pablo Prigioni; and center Cole Aldrich in the off-season. That’s not to mention they traded for wing Lance Stephenson and grabbed forward Branden Dawson in the draft.

Hayes is a 10-year veteran who most recently played for the Toronto Raptors. He appeared in just 29 games in 2014-15 and averaged 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game. He has averaged 3.7 points and 5.0 rebounds over his career.

At 6-foot-6, Hayes is short for a center. But he does weigh in at 240 pounds. Out of San Leandro, Hayes played his college ball at Kentucky. He averaged 9.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists over four seasons for the Wildcats.
