– Once again the bench sparkled. Jamal Crawford scored 26 points on 11 of 15 shooting, Austin Rivers scored 16 and was 5 of 6 from 3-point range and Wesley Johnson scored 11 on 4 of 8 shooting – 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. The bench outscored the Bulls bench 58-18. The Clippers shot 53.1 percent (17 of 32) from long-distance.

J.J. Redick had a very poor shooting game on Friday against the Lakers, making just 2 of 10 from the field, 1 of 6 from 3-point range. He rebounded nicely in this one, scoring 21 points 7 of 11 from the field – 4 of 4 from deep, where Redick is shooting a league-leading 48.6 percent.

DeAndre Jordan continued his rebounding tear, pulling down 20. He has had 19, 19, 17 and 20 rebounds his past four games and has raised his season average to 13.8, second to Andre Drummond (15.0) of Detroit. Jordan also had 17 points, four assists, four blocks and a steal

Paul Pierce’s struggles continued. He played just under 16 minutes and missed all six of his field-goal attempts, five of them coming from 3-point range. The 38-year-old Pierce is shooting 33.6 percent from the field overall, by far the worst percentage of his career, which is in its 18th season. He’s shooting 30.6 percent from beyond the arc, third-worst of his career. He shot 30.2 percent from there in 2002-03 and 29.9 percent in 2003-04.

– Considering the Clippers are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, it’s always news when they outrebound an opponent. They did that in this one, taking 46 to Chicago’s 42. Besides Jordan’s 20, Lance Stephenson grabbed six boards in less than 10 minutes off the bench. Cole Aldrich and Redick had four apiece.

Wesley Johnson: Jamal Crawford has found fountain of youth

Wesley Johnson  marveled at teammate Jamal Crawford after Crawford scored 26 points Sunday afternoon to lead the Clippers to a 120-93 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

Crawford shot 11 of 15 and also had three assists and a steal. All at age 35.

“He’s found the fountain of youth somewhere,” Johnson said. “So everybody is trying to get how he feels so young and looks so young still. But it’s not like he’s surprising us by what he does on the court.”

The Clippers are now 15-3 without Blake Griffin.

Five things to take from Clippers’ 85-83 victory at Atlanta

– Under the circumstances, this was one of the best victories of the season for the Clippers. Not only were they still reeling from the Blake Griffin incident, they somehow won this game even though they shot just 38.8 percent from the field, 18.5 percent (5 of 27) from 3-point range. The Clippers (30-16) are now 13-3 sans Griffin, who likely won’t be back until the beginning of March because of his fractured hand.

– Like Jamal Crawford, Wesley Johnson has been up and down with his shot this season. He shot 3 of 12 in this one, just 1 of 8 from 3-point range. Then again, even though coach Doc Rivers has at times referred to Johnson as “a great shooter,” he has never been that. Johnson is shooting just 41.1 percent overall for his 5-plus years career, a more respectable 34.7 from beyond the arc. Those numbers this season are 42.6 and 34.5, respectively.

– Speaking of Crawford, he was hot in this one, scoring a team-high 21 points on 9 of 16 shooting. Crawford attempted just two 3-point field goals and made one.

– The Clippers did play solid defense. The Hawks shot 43.5 percent (10 of 23) from 3-point range, but just 41.8 overall. Also, the Clippers had a hand in Atlanta committing a whopping 22 turnovers. The Clippers had 11 turnovers.

– Speaking of defense, the Clippers came through with 16 steals, a rather massive amount for one game. Johnson had six of them, Chris Paul had three and Luc Mbah a Moute and Austin Rivers each had two. The Clippers average 7.9 steals per game.

BONUS TAKE: DeAndre Jordan grabbed 19 rebounds for the second consecutive game.

Hawks’ Kent Bazemore impressed with Clippers’ win at Atlanta

Count Kent Bazemore of the Atlanta Hawks among those who were impressed by the Clippers on Wednesday night after they defeated the host Hawks 85-83 at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

Afterward, Bazemore was asked about the Clippers’ effort.

“You shake their hand,” said Bazemore, who started at small forward and scored 12 points for the Hawks (27-20). “They played well, especially coming off a back-to-back. They played hard. They’re a tough team. They’re playing really well right now. With Blake Griffin out, they’re a totally different team. They came in here and took care of business.”

The Clippers (30-16) are 13-3 since Griffin went down with a partially torn left quad tendon; he has not played since Christmas. He would have likely been back on this just-concluded five-game road trip, but he fractured his right hand punching the Clippers’ assistant equipment manager at a restaurant Saturday in Toronto. Griffin could return sometime around the beginning of March.
